BRIEF

Dick’s Sporting Goods was approaching the holiday season and getting ready for their annual deals campaign. They came to us to help create some animated visuals based on some style guides they had created for the holidays. We were tasked with delivering 32 online and broadcast spots. With additional assets and variations the whole campaign totaled 467 deliverables over the course of three months.

CONCEPT

We experimented with various concepts. Finger swipes to include a bit of the human element. Wrapping paper to connect with the sensation of opening that new gift on a Christmas morning. And a spinning holiday box that would give a sense of satisfaction and surprise to the viewer,

WINNER

The clear winner with the client ended up being the idea of the gift card. A very big staple of the holidays and often the way you receive gift cards and information. We wanted to use the gift card as a gateway into this green holiday world we would be creating. Once inside we wanted to create the sense of depth

CAMPAIGN

Once the main visual was set in place we moved onto creating some additional looks for the rest of the campaign. One of the additional spots we helped on was adding some 3D animations to a commercial featuring JJ Watt at one of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Location

To finish off the last bit of visuals, we moved onto the co-branding part of the campaign. Golf Galaxy was partnering up with Dick’s to do a few holiday commercials. This was a tough to to get right and we went through various color schemes. There needed to be a balance between two sets of branding to pay respect to both. Ultimately the two brands decided to stick with an overall blue for the spots.
